3-4 February- Parity, Brazil

Have you ever swum in sea that is actually hot, not just luke warm?

We did, in Parity, (which is about 250 Kms south of Rio)…. NO EXAGGERATION, it must have been over 25 degrees!

Parity lies in the most beautiful bay with many Islands  and high hills behind the town. The water is very shallow in places and it is HOT here…. hence the hot sea water. Once out in the Bay the water is a perfect temperature.

It is an amazing place.

Parity

Originally a major Portuguese Port that shipped huge quantities of gold and diamonds to Portugal. It was only linked by road as recently as 1973….. and so it is a time warp.

Parity

There are beautiful, brightly coloured Colonial buildings that are all perfectly preserved in lovely streets. The streets have the most enormous cobble stones that came from Portugal as ballast.

Parity - Brazil

The Harbour is full of brightly coloures boats that take you out to the islands to swim and eat and snorkel for the day. Naturally we did that.

Harbour,Parity from our boat

Islands, coves and beaches around Parity. Reminds me of Whitsundays, Qld. Very beautiful

Buccaneer Bransbury..Couldn't find a parrot or cutlass!

If you ever visit Brazil, try and visit Parity. It has a big star of approval from us!

Tomorrow is our last stop…RIO. After that, I fly back to Chile and Merry flies home.

Then, no more fancy hotels or meals for a while for me! Ill have to toughen up again as I’m fast becoming an old softie!

  5. It is my belief that mesothelioma is usually the most dangerous cancer. It contains unusual features. The more I look at it the more I am certain it does not act like a true solid cells cancer. In the event that mesothelioma is a rogue viral infection, then there is the prospects for developing a vaccine in addition to offering vaccination to asbestos exposed people who are vulnerable to high risk associated with developing potential asbestos associated malignancies. Thanks for giving your ideas for this important ailment.

  6. Today, I went to the beach front with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!

  11. Stop, stop! I can’t cope with this. There you are rattling on about hot sea water and showing us beautiful views, and here we are with all the heaters on and wrapped up to keep the cold out and a grey sky above. What we want to see is that you have come across the pot of gold and are sending us all air tickets so that we can join you.

    • Sorry Michael….The pot of gold has been spent! Brazil is very expensive…probably more expensive than Australia. Not sure about UK. If I find another pot of gold, rest assured you will be amongst the first to know

  12. Parity looks beautiful – we had warm water at Cape Tribulation, but I would like to snorkel in Parity too now!
Thomas watched Pirates of the Caribbean last night but isnt convinced you look like Captain Jack Sparrow quite yet!
Hope Merry has a safe trip back; guess you could console yourself with some local wine
    Karen

    • Hi Karen
Just tell Thomas that he hasn’t seen me with my stick on tattoos! Me and Jack are like twins!
The thing about Parity was that you could just imagine Sir Francis Drake hiding around one of the beautiful coves…if not him, Jack Sparrow. It really is an amazing place and so beautiful
      Love to you all
      Geoff
